Sloan Canyon

In May 2014, we visited Sloan Canyon for the second time.  Our advice - Go if you are close to suburban Las Vegas, more specifically Henderson.  The Rock Art is nicely done and surprisingly well preserved - this is probably a good example that heavier visitation often decreases intentional damage.  This may be a difficult concept for government officials to grasp, yet they admit they cannot control or monitor all the sites.  Many researchers and authors, some of them surprisingly open, are now revealing their beliefs about increased visitation.  Maybe we can finally adopt a preservation program that works, as opposed to pointing fingers at each other.

Make the Public Aware - Educate the Public - Enjoy Preservation.

Specific location information will only be given for those sites with public information already available -  either by a government agency, in a book, or previously appearing on a website.  Specific location information will not be given on sites that are relatively unexplored or if the information is not already in the public domain.  We do intend to cooperate with validated researchers who are interesting in sharing information.
